The manufacturing process of the "L’A. Mardaga" belt buckle is identical to that of a fine sporting gun. The same high grade steels are used.
Basic machining is carried out in Liège by a top-workshop which in particular works out prototypes of titanium tools for the Airbus 380 contract.
Then with know-how a master gunsmith (ex-professor at the Ecole d’Armurerie de Liège) takes in task the traditional gunsmithing steps : file work, jointing, functioning, polishing.
The belt buckels "in the white" being ready for decoration are entrusted to master gun-engravers sorted on the shutter. It is at this moment that you can intervene in the choice of various types of engraving : chiselling, hollow bottom, semi-hollow bottom, soft cuts, nobel metal inlays... all is implemented to satisfy your imagination and your requirements.
Now starts the step of the heat-treatments: gray hardening, colour hardening, bluing , fine gold-washings...
The final step is the one where the whole will be checked and assembled. Your "L'A. Mardaga" belt will be placed in its "oak and leather case". On the brass oval escutcheon your initials will be engraved.
